Autism Society UK / USA
Mission statement for Autism Society UK
"We champion the rights and interests of all people with autism and aim to provide individuals with autism and their families with help, support and services that they can readily access, trust and rely upon and which make a positive difference to their lives." NAS Mission Statement Hi Everyone Autism , a "silent disorder" It is a lifelong developmental disability affecting both children and adults. Autism is a complex brain disorder that inhibits a person’s ability to communicate and develop social relationships, and is often accompanied by extreme behavioral challenges. Autism Spectrum Disorders are diagnosed in one in 150 children in the United States, affecting four times as many boys as girls. The diagnosis of autism has increased tenfold in the last decade. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have called autism a national public health crisis whose cause and cure remain unknown. At the moment there is no "cure" for autism. But this does not mean that nothing can be done for them. Everyday parents and carers need help, more so for someone who has just had a child diagnosed. This can be a difficult time as they need support and understanding for everyday ahead and for the rest of their child's life. In many cases for people who do not know someone who is autistic it is relatively unknown and misunderstood. At the moment the Autism Society UK are campaigning for all people who have been diagnosed with an Autism Spectrum Disorder ( ASD ), so they can get a better help and support for them and their families. Firstly we have to make people aware. If we understand more then society will look after our children better. This has touched my own life, as my son who is now 11 is also autistic. This has been a learning experience often daily. Each day society changes and we are able to read, learn and understand. Not for someone with ASD. Please show your support on the web sites below. They need everyone's help. http://www.autism.org.uk/nas/jsp/polopoly.jsp?d=10 UK http://www.autism-society.org/site/PageServer USA Thank You. ![]()

Re: Autism Society UK / USA
Brother Bronagh,
Thanks for this very valuable information. It's seems like it is growing. I work for the federal government and they have a company that only employs people with slight disabilites which I think is awesome. Several have Autism and they are some of the most woderful people I've known. In the new year it is my goal to give more charity for worthy causes and this will be one on my list. Bro WTTL
